Russia's got a lot of natural resources, but you don't think there's any sort of political manipulation involved in how high they keep the prices?
Fuck dude, the only reason we're not all driving eco-friendly cars and shit now is because NONE of the corporations banking off the fossil fuel industry want to give up their profit margins until they've exhausted the fossil fuels. The ideas and technology are already here and within our grasp, the reasons these things are being turned down, "kept in the closet" so to speak, are mostly political, and I suppose in some broader sense you could say economic as well.
I don't think globalizing things so that people all over the world have an increased level of access to resources is wrong, I'm opposed to global monopoly, which I feel is what things are shifting towards. Call it gut feeling, intuition or what ever, this is happening real time.
Some of you might think I'm some kind of paranoid, basement-dwelling nut job, and I hope to fucking God that you're right (but since I'm neither paranoid, nor live in a basement, I suppose you'd be wrong). I'd be able to live much easier knowing that I was just crazy and that these things weren't actually happening.

Well, it's not jsut the problem from the corporations, y'know. You and I and all these other average Joe's keep buying shit that needs oil to be produced or maintained. We don't like change either if we have to make the sacrifices. Human beings are selfish and that is why a pure democracy can never be obtained. Everyone is going for their own goals and shit and it takes a true leader to set aside everything and work for the common goods. But it's not a thankful job.

How about the environment? The treaty of Kyoto is nearing it's end and Kopenhagen should be the first step to some real "AGREEMENTS" about future treaties that will "REALLY" decide drastic and to be obeyed by punishment ruless. Politics are still failing in this, but good inventions are coming. A friend of mine who works at a Nissan garage told me Nissan is going to be the first producing cars driving on hydrogen. Then all of the world can drive on water! That would mean a change, but who says you and I will throw away our current cars, from which we have millions and millions, to buy one on hydrogen?

American politics-
Democrats: Democrats do nothing at all. Republicans: They do a lot, and all of it is wrong.

Yes, but breakfast foods make up for apartheid, torture and oppression. So it's OK. Belgium is a truly amazing country with a rich legacy...of making waffles.

How do you guys all feel about Global Warming being proved as a hoax this week? I'm glad the truth has finally been made public.
