When Liang Xun got pulled away from his original task, Zhu Yi was sent in to replace him. Although many others were working on new inventions for Wu, Zhou Yu thought it important to first establish a defensive stronghold. Once the enemy could be held at bay, the other affairs of Shou Chun could be attended to without threat. "We need these towers up as soon as possible" the general said, urging his men to pick up the pace. They had other projects that were already placed upon their shoulders and he was not about to let down not only Zhou Yu, but Sun Quan as well. Zhu Yi looked down at the map he was issued by the Prime Minister's assistant. It was quite the task so he grabbed a tool and started to dig. The workers were digging four deep holes for the legs of the tower. Other men were constructing the actual housing, at the top, where guards would be stationed. It would take time, but Yi at least wanted to get the holes dug and most of the structure assembled before putting it up. One of the workers almost stepped back, into the hole, but luckily his leader had keen eyes. "Watch yourself, Lee." The man bowed and continued on with his work. The sun was beginning to lower itself in the sky, preparing to duck behind the mountains until the next day. When it appeared again, the soldiers would be ready to continue.

Zhu Yi and the work force returned to the building site when the weather changed for the better. They had made good progress, but still had much to do.
"Ok, today we shall finish up the tops and attach them to the legs."
"We will need rope and leverage. Reserve that piece there, Chan, it looks strong" he said, pointing to a large timber.
Yi informed the men that when they were ready to set the towers upright, he would let them know.
The locations had been set, the holes had been dug, the legs prepared, and the finishing of the housing had to be completed. Some engineers were present, overlooking the construction that the normal soldiers were doing.
"How do they look" he asked one of the engineers. The man nodded positively and all seemed well.
There were roofs to protect any soldiers from arrows or the elements. There were ladders made to run up the center so that the guards could ascend and descend. There were stores of arrows which would be located at the camp nearby and also in the towers themselves.
**still under construction**
