It was early in the morning, the son arose when the twitching of the birds got increasingly louder. The sweet scent of tea got inside Zhuge Cheng's bedroom. Near him a small desk with some books on it, their state revealing they were read not long ago, last night to be exact.
Zhuge Cheng woke up. His head felt like it was gonna explode and in an instant a sudden pain hit him in his right shoulder as he got up from his bed. There he knew, the training yesterday was good.
After a few hours later, full armor on him, sword on his waist he left his abode to patrol the streets for any suspects. Everywhere he'd go he would be kindly greeted by the people that recognized him. Zhuge Cheng would always reply with a simple, hands behind his back.
Time went on and as he was passing by, a kid, excited, playing with his little dog crossed his sight. Cheng stood there and watched them playing, the kid throwing a piece of his bread to the dog.
Watching that something suddenly awoke deep in him, it was a feeling that he forgot in a long time yet it was somehow well known to him, familiar. It was a feeling that was shut in his heart tight for an eternity, like an old door with rusty chains on them. For him it was impossible to remove them even if he wanted to. That was his fate.
The kid and the dog left soon after leaving Cheng staring at nothing and pondering. Then suddenly, a voice behind his back brought him back to reality. On hearing the man Cheng turned to see who it was and indeed it was someone Cheng already expected to meet him. A relatively small man of stature stood in front of Cheng, a round head and a mild face where his features.
"Shu Tao what is the matter?" Despite the question, Cheng already had a slight premonition of what it would be judging Shu Tao's excited expression. The time time had come at last.
"Lord Cheng Cheng I have been looking all over for you! The merchants from the south you asked for have arrived! We mustn't lose time, they await us! Come!" Those words were enough for Cheng and so they hurried to meet the famed merchants form the south.
Meters away from the city gates lied a somewhat controversial caravan with some several chariots around them. Some people dressed in white, exotic robes where talking to each other in a language no man in Jian Ye could understand.
Zhuge Cheng himself followed by Weng Tao behind who wad his difficulties with carrying a large sack on his back made their way through the crowd that was gathering around the chariots to meet the merchants.
As usual, Zhuge Cheng sighed loudly as he always did when trying to get the attention of someone. With a bow he started.
"I salute you, wise men from the south. I am Zhuge Cheng, and I believe you have something we want and we have something you want."
An elderly man turned to them, the bright sun revealing his frilled face and the scars serving as a reminder for his past battles. Around him was an electrifying aura, surely he was no mere merchant.
"Ah, Lord Zhuge Cheng... Your presence honors us indeed. Let us get to business shall we? Cheng nodded and immediately signaled for Shu Tao to show him the gold. Tao partially revealed the sack, showing the bright glance of the Wu gold. Then, one of the chariot opened its doors and revealed the reason they were here for. Around 200 intriguing Black scaled Armors at last showed themselves to the world. Zhuge Cheng was more than pleased.
"Price?" At the question the old man revealed a slight grin of him. "400 Gold pieces is the price, lord Cheng. I am sure you will be pleased with the quality of those Rattan armors."
For a man that came from the deep south the old man was quite an eloquent speaker thought Cheng for himself but that was the least he cared. The gold was handed to them, and the chariots along with the Rattan Armor were successfully transferred to the biggest blacksmith available in the city.
The next morning....
The hard work on the Rattan Armor was finished. Zhuge Cheng stayed the entire night at the blacksmith and tirelessly worked on the armor along with some other volunteers until dawn. All 200 of them where modified successfully and the result was magnificent. The new Rattan armor had gained greater resistance to fire which was the biggest problem of it. Now that problem was gone.
