One fine morning, Chao bade his soliders announce throughout the various parts of Changsha that he would be speaking on behalf of the Shu army in an attempt to rally popular support for the cause of uniting the land. A small crowd gathered in order to listen, and he wasted little time as he approached the podium his men had made. He was wearing his usual white dragon armor, and two flagbearers stood at his side, one carrying the flag of Shu, the other carrying Chao's personal flag, depicting a White Dragon.
"Men and Women of Changsha! Today marks a new day in the battle to unify this land. Long have the people suffered until unjust rule, long have you bore the burdens of the local magistrate's vices - No more. The Lord Liu is intent on unifying the land in peace and harmony. He is a virtuous man, he does not force the brunt of his war on his people, nor does he levy high taxes that he may live in luxury off the pain that each of you must endure."
"Now, there is an upstart to the North who uses his power to control the Son of Heaven. Lord Liu would end this man's occupation of the capital and restore power to the Heaven's appointed rulers, the Liu family! With Lord Liu's tutelage, the Emperor, the Son of Heaven would be granted the ability to keep the peace in this land! Isn't peace our dream? When you sleep at night, do you not dream of a day when you no longer need to fear your farm being burned at the hands of raiders - when you no longer need to fear the blade of the conqueror? I know that I dream of such a time."
His soldiers cheered at this.
"And I say to you, such a time shall be upon us. Rise up, men of Changsha, draw upon your courage and serve the virtuous Lord. We have just showed our Lord's power through the major victory of Chi Bi, do not listen to the foolish doomsayers that glorify the size of Cao Cao's rebellious army! Lord Liu has already pacified the region of Southern Jing, and is well on his way to pacify Yizhou as well. The Heavens support the virtuous, and in this war, that is our Lord Liu! I say that it is not enough to say that we have a chance in this war against the traitors that ravish this land, but we shall certainly be victorious, for who can stand against the Chosen of the Heavens? Join with us, the elite Standard of the White Dragon, and we shall see to it that the Chosen of Heaven, Lord Liu, is successful!"
