Swordsmen to Vet Swordsmen
The sun was slowly approaching the peak of the sky. Inside of the walls the loud banging of the swordsman's feet. Each individual one banging the floor as hard as they could with their feet as a cry to be trained in the arts of being a higher version. Slowly the general left the capital building, the troops stopped stomping and stared in the wake of the male. The representative came toward him and whispered in his ear, voice shaking a bit as he spoke "S-sire, we wish for you to train us in the art of the swordsmen...Please Sire, we want to be strong enough to take on Wei head on and win as if nothing happened..." The head of the General slowly shifted toward the male who spoke to him. In his mind memories of when his family tortured him and forced him to be strong, forced him to become a powerful warrior. Gently the General Sarugaku asked the male, "Why do you wish to be strong? What do you hope to achieve after you defeat Cao Cao and his forces?" Quickly the male said a response, not thinking about his tone of voice it made it sound like a bit of yelling. "Peace sire!" Sarugaku started to think of the reasons why he desired power and what he would do once the war was over. "So be it, bring every swordsmen to the training area and I will teach you along with the already trained about what it truly means to be a swordsmen." The males optics filled with joy and quickly ran toward the troops spreading the word that he would train them. Sarugaku shifted around once more, entering the capital building.
Sarugaku raised his right hand, index finger and middle finger coming toward him to summon a messenger. "Bring me the two best trained swordsmen you can find. Tell them that we are going to train the new ones with all the experience we could possibly give them." The right foot of the messenger reached backward, going on his left knee toward the General before he turned around and took off toward the barracks of the swordsmen. Sarugaku shifted toward the table, a blank sheet a paper on the table next to some ink and a feather pen. On the paper he wrote the daily route that him and the new swordsmen would have to endure to become stronger. The moment the pen touched the paper the ink it started to write a rigorous schedule for the swordsmen. It ranging from 4am to 11pm. This schedule was made to harden them to the extreme the quickest way possible, even if it meant losing a couple of solders he was fine with it.
~Schedule~
4:00-4:30 Wake up and Eat
4:30-6:30 6 Mile Run
6:30-7:30 Eat
7:30-8:30 Water Training
8:30-10:00 Wooden Sword Sparring
10:00-11:00 Meal
11:00-1:00 Chop Tree's Down
1:00-3:00 Power of Swing Work out
3:00-5:00 Shield training
5:00-7:00 Meal
7:00-9:00 Shield and Power of Swing
9:00-10:00 Wooden Sword Sparring
The Schedule was finally done, just in time that two of the officers came toward him from his expert swordsmen. One of them gently bent over and whispered in his ear. "Is this it sire?" Sarugaku turned his head gently, looking toward the officer. Head nodding a bit. Both of them started laughing before an officer spoke once more. "Look's like they will be some where near our level in a week." Said one to the other. "I give them two weeks." Both of them nodded in agreement that two weeks should be enough to raise their level. Sarugaku slowly came to a stand, fingers wrapping around the mask that hung around his throat. Fingers pulled it upward to cover his face. Figure slowly shifted around as he spoke to both of his officers. "Get some sleep, you will need it for tomorrow." Both of the officers bowed before him before leaving once more to their barracks. Sarugaku picked the schedule upward and moved toward the front of the capital building. He placed the schedule for all of the swordsmen to look and see what they would be doing. The moment he reached the room he started to hear the moaning and groaning of what they would be doing.
The next day the General and his two officers woke up at 3:00. An hour before they needed to but it was just enough time for them to get ready in their best workout gear. Two of the officers came toward the room the moment he was done getting ready. They were dressed in their best exercise gear, the one of the left's name was Kagon. And the one of the right was named Yuki. Both of them stood and bowed in respect once more. The general approached both of them, gently placing his hands on their shoulders. "Let's teach them how to be men." Yuki and Kagon simply chuckled toward the General and turned with him toward the training field where they were said to meet.
Upon arriving at the field the men were their, dressed in their physical training gear and ready to work. But for the exception that they were starving and sleepy at the same time. They were already in a column formation, in front of him the men clacked to attention as a row of women came from behind the general. "Eat your fill! For these two weeks will be the weeks from hell!!!" A couple of the men shook in their boots the moment the general said hell. Each woman gave the men food and a kiss on the cheek to raise moral some. A woman brought food to the General and the officers, giving each of them a kiss on the lips for a change. "If you please would you clean up are meals after we had left?" The woman simply bowed toward him and left with the rest of the women. After eating a nice meal full of complex carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, and other such healthy things. It was time to get to work with the men.
"ATTEN-TION" Yelled Sarugaku. The men suddenly stood, hands at their sides and faces looking straight. The officers slowly came to a stand. To his right was Yuki, to the left Kagon. Each of them slowly walked down the hill along with the general. "Three formations in front of us. Now!!" The men quickly started to run, three columns in front of the general, as well as in front of each officer. "To build your endurance we shall run six miles every morning! Is that understood!?" The men quickly stepped together and yelled out "Sir yes sir!" Sarugaku gently nodded his head in laughter. "Lets go then!" Quickly the Officers and the General took off in different paths toward the same destination. The destination was up hill and was three mile away, so they figured coming back down equals six mines.
"We will sing on the way, this is to keep you motivated and help you breath. So sing with me! Birdie birdie in the sky, Dropped some whitewash in my eye, I won't fuss and I won't cry, I'm just glad that cows can't fly." The formation started to laugh as they repeated after Sarugaku.
Once they reached the hill the men were already tired. It would seem that going up hill hit it's mark. After a couple minutes the officers came by with their unit. "Nice jog huh?" Said Sarugaku toward the officers. They nodded happily and waited for the men to catch their breath. After five minutes of rest Sarugaku called them to attention and told them to get in their formation's once more. "It's time to run back down. Let's go!" The officers once more took their own paths as they started to trott down the hill toward their camp. Some of them started to get extremely tired, complaining about passing out and such. "Don't worry once we are back you get to eat!" Apparently those words were enough to get them back to camp a little faster then the rest. Once they came back another row of women came out and brought them their food, this time not giving a kiss to the sweaty men. Once more after a couple minutes the officers came down and received their food with their men. "You have until 7:30 to eat, rest, piss, anything you need to do!" The men quickly said "Yes sir!" Their voices were like music to his ears.
Once the men were done eating and the General stood once more the men came to attention. "Split into your groups." The men quickly went into their formation. Quickly wooden swords were being passed out. They were looked the same as the regular swords they worked with, the only difference was that they were lighter and made out of wood. Once the last of the swords were passed out the male shifted around, the men following behind him as they marched toward a 4 foot deep river. The General ordered his men to stand in the water with the wooden swords and keep the swords under water. The idea of this was that the swords would absorb the water and in return make it actually heavier then their regular swords. "Follow this motion." Yelled the General, while he took out one of his swords. The male grabbed the sword and lifted it behind his head, over his head, in front of him made the blade touch his chest, then back again. This was the example he wanted to teach to the men to make their arms stronger. After about 30 minutes the men looked tired, their arms shaking after each motion. The groaning and grunting of them men were quickly heard to the General. "Come to land!" Yelled Sarugaku as the men quickly stood and ran toward him. "Push ups, place the sword under your palms. And move the earth!" The men quickly did as they were ordered and struggled with each of the push ups. They were rigorous and very difficult to complete. After another thirty minutes the men looked even more drained. "Break, take a five minute break and we will resume." The men sat on their asses and started to talk among them self's.
Yuki approached the general, whispering in his ear. "We should spar now. Let us demonstrate in a duel sire." The general nodded gently and shouted toward his men. "It is time for you to get more skilled with a sword! After this you can eat!" The men cheered at the thought of another meal and they slowly stood upward and watched the general. "At the end of this training you will look like how we duel!" Yuki moved his right hand backward, wrapping his fingers around a blade that only the expert swordsmen in the Wu army used. Sarugaku reached backward with both of his hands, fingers wrapping around the hilts of dual blades. Slowly taking them out of their cases into view of the solders. "Begin!" Yelled Kagon who was sitting behind Yuki. Yuki charged toward Sarugaku, with a jump upward he brought his hand downward. Hoping to cut the males arm apart. Sarugaku raised his right hand upward, the instant the blade connected with his own he flicked his wrist enough to let the blade slide toward the ground. While the male was open he took his left blade and cut downward, hoping to slice the males back. Yuki shifted his back in a somewhat erect position as he fell, enough to where the blade would clash against the shield. Sarugaku placed all his weight on his left leg and brought his right knee forward to knee Yuki in the face. While Yuki was falling he didn't have nearly enough time to react and accepted the knee and rolled on the ground toward Kagon. "Now get to work!" Shouted Sarugaku toward his men.
Men quickly faced their opponent and got started, each of them using the drenched wooden swords. This making it hard for them to swing at the speed they would like. Sarugaku shifted toward Yuki and helped the male upward, a medic was called toward them and started to heal the cut that was left on Yuki's cheek. Mending it with a couple of stitches and a cloth. Around the time that it was time to eat Yuki was all patched up. "Alright time to eat!" Yelled Sarugaku toward the men. The men came into their marching position and he lead them back to camp for another meal.
After their meal it was time to head out once more, the men were given back their swords and were taken outward toward the forest and a very massive area of trees. "Chop as many as you can down, get all the logs you can! Chop the branch's off and such." The army started to get to work. Chopping a large amount of trees, then chopping those tree's into smaller sections. Then stacking them in a neat pile. "Are you OK Yuki..?" Said Sarugaku. Yuki looked toward the General and smile toward him. "I will never be able to beat you sire..." Sarugaku laughed and hugged the male with his right arm. "You will, you just need more work. Don't put all your force into once attack, keep it lost and balanced and you might get me next fight." Yuki smiled gently and hugged the General back and watched the men chop the trees downward and place them in logs.
After two hours the General shouted toward them. "Every one of you, get a pile of logs and place it in front of you." The swordsmen did as they were told and got a pile of logs. Their blades were a bit dull from chopping all those tree down, but this is exactly what Sarugaku wanted. "Your blades are dull, but your hearts are strong. Chop those logs in half with pure force, and not with the sharpness of the blade." The men were a bit confused but did as they were told. They started to chop the blades in half with out the sharpness of their blades, just with pure force. Most of them couldn't even make a dent, but with the inspiration of General and the Officers they continued onward. They continued and kept trying until they started to make a bigger slash mark, then a bigger one. Until finally they started to break them in half with pure force.
After the men chopped their pile they were ordered to rest and sharpen their blade as much as they could. So they did, and after an hour of working on their power swing it was shield time. Sarugaku summoned a messenger and ordered him one thing. "Tell the archers to use sticks dripped with paint and position them on the west wall." The messenger nodded and rallied the archers. As the archers came onto the wall they aimed their arrows toward them, a dumming unit came out near the general. "Show them how it is done officers!" The two of them went outward with their shield and bent downward in a crouched position with their shields above their head and face. The drumming unit made a small rumbling sound which meant shoot one volley. So they did, the archers shot toward the two, the blank arrows bouncing off the shields, the paint decorating the shields beautifully. When the officers stood upward after the volley their shields were covered in paint and only one paint mark was on them. "Now go out!!" The drummers started to bang their drums hard, which meant don't stop firing toward the new men. The men raised their shields and tried the best they could to block the painted arrows in the sky. Most of them getting nailed very easily by the archers that were firing toward them. After the set amount of time the drums started once more, signaling them to stop and the swordsmen slowly came back. Most of them limping and covered with paint, Sarugaku gently signed as he looked at them and spoke to them gently. "Today is over, but for the rest of these days you shall work out even more after this meal. Meaning another spar and another volley training! Now get some rest!!!"
So it was, this schedule was carried out for the full two week period. The last day the men looked like they had been doing it all their lives. They barely got any paint on them, they were able to cut a log with the blunt for with ease, and most importantly they came in as nothing and left with everything this training could give them. "Men!" The men came together, shields on their back and swords on their hip. "Good job, you really pulled it off. This is my dream, for the Wu army to be the strongest. We did exactly what you did these past two weeks. We went from nothing and now we control a force powerful enough to stop Cao Cao! Let us continue training in hopes of becoming stronger. With your help their is no end to what we can accomplish!!!"
