After Wu achieving a great victory at Chi Bi and then easily taking Ru Nan, the morale of all officers of Wu continued to increase wildly. After taking Ru Nan, Ling Tong and his troops followed General Ci’s troops into the city of Ru Nan. Behind Ling Tong was Lin Xao who had given him words of wisdom that the battle should not result in bloodshed and he was right. Was he a visionary? Either way, Ling Tong appreciated his company as he resided in Ru Nan.
Waking up bright and early, Ling Tong takes his command unit of 400 Heavy Calvary and goes out on patrol out of the city to make sure everywhere was safe. He could remember the tension between his troops previously wondering whether they was going to fight or not but as long as it was all the name of Wu, they would fight to the end, which was likewise for the young Wu officer.
Ling Tong gallops his horse more rapidly infront of his troops as he spots something in the distance, then halts as he turns to his men, “Troops! We have no idea what is infront of us, but they may want to attack Wu. If that is so, they are idiots. You remember all our training…we all trained to fight a good fight, but this is not the time yet, while chaos is still in the air, we cannot rest until the stench has been removed from existence!”, he paused, “I shall take half of this force to meet with the unknown forces, 10 units shall return to Ru Nan and inform Lin Xao of the situation and to bring the crossbowmen”.
As he finished, he turned back round and was charging forwards towards the unknown forces with half of his command unit with him.
Lin Xao, was in the courtyard in Ru Nan, training the Pikeman. It was never good to leave soldiers untrained for battle. Time is not luxury and whatever time was given was appreciated and had to be used wisely. He stood with his helmet over his head and his armoured clothing covered him. In his right hand was a Pike, which was the same as those used by the troops, as he demonstrated moves which the soldiers followed suit.
“As spoken by Sun Tzu, if you know yourself and your enemy, you need not fear. Time is at the essence. If you can use your wits against your known opponent, then victory shall be yours”. After he had spoken these words, Xao walked down the steps and into the midst of the soldiers, “Be also aware of your surroundings and also..”, as he quickly grabbed the pike off a soldier and hit it against their knee, making sure it wasn’t the blade, and continued, “to watch your back at all times”.
As he finished, a horse rode up to him, the rider said, “Lin Xao, Ling Tong is approaching an unknown force and requires the repeating crossbowmen to assist”.
Lin Xao wiped his forehead, then turned to the pikeman, “You are free to go but always remember your training as training is vital”, then turned back to the rider, “I shall make my way to Ling Tong immediately. You must take the rest of the calvary and meet up with the rest. Make haste!”
“I am Ling Tong of Wu. Destroyer of Rebels. Who seeks to danger citizens of Wu?!”, he calls out as he sees the unknown force who are a group of rebels. Gongji raises his hand to let his troops know to stay behind, then he slowly galloped closer than many rebels can out. Ling Tong grabs his twin sabers and attacks them closing in, still on his horse. Then in the corner of his eye, he saw troops jumping to knock him off, Gongji jumps from his horse in the direction of his troops, causing those that jumped to attack each other. With his rear open to attack, Ling Tong turns round quickly and gets in a defensive poisture when a single soldier stepped forward within the rebels, who were gathering round him, taunted, “I think it’s time to go back home with your family. Battle is not for kids!”.
Gongji stared at him and answered, “Your taunts mean nothing!”, as he readies his sabers in a offensive formation.
The soldier smiled and reached for his sword and pulled it out, “I am Lei Huo, soldier of Ru Nan who have allowed Wu to take control of us. I shall not let this happen, unless I can be sure all soldiers of Wu are worthy, aswell as the young soldiers”.
Ling Tong grinned, “Well I suggest you run before you are thrawted by the destroyer of rebels”, as he grabs his sabers and blocks the head on attack from Lei Huo who ran forwards towards him. Gongji loosens Lei Huo’s deadlock and attacks one saber to his right and other saber to his left, causing a cut on Lei Huo’s right by Ling Tong’s left saber while still pressing against his right saber which he now reinforces with his left to take him off balance. Gongji takes this opportunity by hitting his right saber against his now weakened hand causing the sword to fall and Lei Huo defenceless.
With no other way, Lei Huo surrenders, after seeing Ling Tong’s reinforcements in the distance approaching, “I was wrong”, he kneels down and bows his head down, “If I am unworthy to continue living, strike me down but after seeing this, I vow and pledge to serve Wu. I was wrong”.
Ling Tong turns away and gets back onto his horse, “If you truly vow, then follow me to Ru Nan. If not, but still follow, you shall regret it”, then he turns back with his troops behind him and meets up with Lin Xao who also turns, and following both of them was Lei Huo and his rebel force.
