Ambush's and Raiding around Yun Nan

[Sarugaku Jouten]

"Men of Shu. Our mission here is simple, and our occupation is sort." The males voice rank outward toward the troops he brought with him.

"I will not lie to you, the only reason we are here is so that we can get gold. But with this gold out forces will grow to a massive size and bring us victory against Cao Cao and the Wei pigs!" All the men in his units rang out with pleasure, the moral of them rising with the speech to them.

After the speech Sarugaku returned to the small camp in the woods. Which happened to be located along one of the two roads toward the small town around Yun Nan.

The male sat down with his council of officers, each one the best in their unit of men. A rather large map was set up on the table they were sitting at. "We will set up 200 archers on each side of the road. Hidden by the thicket of woods, with this blocking off half of the supply roots. The Raiding unit will be stationed with the archers, we will do a sort of pincer formation to collapse any resistance. You have your orders, move out!" The officers stood up, bowed, and left the area to get their men set up.

Sarugaku left the tent toward his own tent. The male sat down, the two swords toward his right as he stared into the open area. Thinking about everything that could possibly go wrong in this situation and such. Sarugaku called out a Scouting unit. "Go now, check the area where we will be set up make sure nothing go's wrong with this plan." After the male was done speaking the unit left to go and scout the area.

The male stood upward, placing the two swords onto his back and getting dressed in his battle out fit. The male walked outward from the area of his tent and mounted a brown steed. He road with the 200 Heavy Calvary and the drumming Unit. The male went to the right side of the road, sending the raiding party stationed there to go to the other side. They were now set up and ready for it to begin. Drumming unit was ready with the smoke signals at any time they see a rich caravan pass by them. Sadly after two days nothing, due to it being such a poor nation.

After the second day passed they were still out there, waiting to see if any night caravans were on the way their were, a long trail of about 10 rich caravans were on the road. Guarded by a small military force of about three hundred soldiers. Headed though Yun Nan going to Cheng Du. The signal was raised and the arrows started to fly. "STOP FIRING!" Yelled Sarugaku toward his archer's unit. Slowly the drums sounded, bang after bang after bang. This being a signal for the horse units to charge. So they did and they rushed in a huge pact. The 200 raiding unit charging while the 200 heavy unit made up from his own body guard attacked from the other side. When they reached the seen the three hundred swordsmen had their swords up and the fight was on.

Okay, let’s get the information out of the way. When a task is rewarded we tag it according to the rules listed in the tasks thread which I THINK is Section 2 on the rules page. These tags offer the base value of your loot, mixed with the rp consideration. For you to get maximum rewards you need to know what tags to include in your posts. We add in other tag bonuses according to what you write about, so don’t be worried if you can’t see a tag that fully justifies what you’ve done, we’ll automatically include it.

Another thing to put into consideration is the effort and how you’ve gone about getting your loot. When engaged in combat you can never control the opposing side, nor can you by right dictate how many people you are fighting. When raiding or attack we usually give the opposing side 50% what you have. We don’t try hard when we B mod these sort of tasks so you end up usually coming out on top with a good bonus/reward that make up for your losses, when the post is poorly done you lose out. So remember to really plan these sort of raids and make it span out for a few turns, it helps with the rewarding process. That being said, don’t BS several pages worth of text, BS meaning (bullshitting) I would rather read 1 page of calculated decisions than 4 pages of random gibberish, as I think anyone would. So, now I’ve stated this I’ll just clear 1 more issue and I’ll return to posting my reply to your actions.

NEVER attack a city or town unless you have a good army, never also attack too many caravans in a short period of time, I usually limit it to 1 or 2 caravans maximum per day/post, this way you aren’t going to be noticed as easily, because let’s face it, if you raided 20 caravans EVERYONE will know about it.

My Post

Guardian Hu Long had just left the city of Yun Nan when the drums began to roll steadily in the distance; at first he thought of it as a mere distraction – or a notice of an impending unit coming to reinforce the city of Yun Nan. As of late, reports had come in regularly on barbarian attacks led by the kings of the more southern regions. It didn’t concern him; he had long since been accustomed to the realities of war and had decided to remain as a guardian for caravans with the small platoon he had gathered over the years.

It wasn’t until the arrows flickered into the night sky that he even realised he was under attack, and when he did – he could do no more than panic for the brief few seconds it took for such deadly projectiles to descend upon his ranks.

“Move!” He yelled, “Behind the caravans.”

He watched as his army fled behind the caravans, which absorbed a vast majority of the attack. Then, the drumming rolls flickered again and the cavalry of some unknown army came crashing down the pathway.

“Spearmen, to the front, protect the caravan with your very lives.”

The 100 or so spearmen clashed with the cavalry, sending man and beast alike to tumble over the rockery that had grown over the dirty roads. He, who had drawn his sword and had engaged in a brief frenzy of attacks, fell to the blade of a much more experienced veteran.

His men did not lose faith, as they tried to plunder what cargo was left before trying to flee. Most of them were cut down, but at the expense of the cargo being damaged. After a further engagement, most of the men had fallen victim, whilst other ran off into the night.

The raid was a success

The rewards aren’t great because of the limitations in how you did this attack. Next time, only declare the initial charge and an admin will b mod the fight properly with you; also never tell the mod how many troops they have. I’ve been nice this time round because of all of the flaws in how you did it, I’m also really busy so I couldn’t expand much on the return post. But at least you made a profit, even if it is a little small. xD
