Well realistically... Yes, a lot of troops really did mean all that. Anyone who says "troop numbers don't mean anything" doesn't know a thing about war at all.

And Wu did quite a number of awesome things, and as a whole was better than Shu, but not Wei. Save for Zhang Fei, Wang Ping, Fa Zheng, and Wei Yan, Shu was vastly overrated. Even Guan Yu's great beard couldn't save them.
